Community Projects

Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA) is dedicated to enhancing the Toledo Bend Lake area and the communities that surround it. Monies made from the major fundraiser--Bass Unlimited Banquet--as well as volunteer time, is put to good use by sponsoring projects in and around the Lake.

Examples include:

  • Funded lighting upgrade in Hemphill, TX, Library and East Sabine Nutritional Center.
  • Contributed funds to support the Sabine Parish Humane Society.
  • Funded high school fishing teams in the area.
  • Provided scholarships for high school students active in fishing clubs and 4H.
  • Joined Louisiana Wildlife to support the Sabine Parish 5th Grade Fishing Clinic.
  • Joined with the Louisiana Adopt-A-Road Program to pick up litter along a section of Highway 191.

Tired of looking at litter on our beautiful roads? Want to do something about it? The Sabine Parish Police Jury has developed an Adopt-A-Road Program for our Parish roads. Persons, groups, or organizations that wish to adopt a Parish road for litter pick-up can complete the form and submit it to the Sabine Parish Police Jury. CLICK HEREto download the form.

The Police Jury will put up a sign with the name of your group or organization along your adopted road, identifying you as the caring citizens that want to help Keep Sabine Clean!

Toledo Town Intersection Gets a Facelift!

TBLA provided a grant of approximately $20,000 to the Sabine Tourist Commission to install Gateway welcoming signage and landscaping at the intersection of LA Hwy 6 and Hwy 191, to make a more pleasing site for local residents and visitors in the Toledo Bend Lake Country area.

TBLA combined efforts with the Sabine Tourist Commission, SRA of Louisiana, volunteers from the Sabine Parish Detention Center and community volunteers to make the project come together. Toledo Bend Lake Country hosts thousands of visitors each year and is home to many residents. This project offers a positive first impression to the area and helps to set the stage for Toledo Bend's upcoming 50-year celebration in 2019.
